Just a month after gen:LOCK had completed its Toonami run, WarnerMedia and Rooster Teeth have announced that a second season of the popular web-animated series starring Michael B. Jordan is presently in the works.

HBO Max will be premiering the new season to help prop up content for AT&T and WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service; in contrast to the first season when subscription viewers of Rooster Teeth got to view the show first. According to Variety, gen:LOCK season two will have an exclusive 90-day run on HBO Max before the series will be available on Rooster Teeth’s first subscription service. A release date for the new season hasn’t been announced.

gen:LOCK’s first season ran on Toonami from Aug. 3 to Sep. 21, 2019. The show’s successful run on the block helped fuel the fire for a second season to come to fruition. According to Rooster Teeth co-founder Matt Hullum, “We were blown away by the response to the first season of this show, both by the Rooster Teeth community and the Adult Swim audience, and cannot wait to bring it to more fans of action, sci-fi and mecha animation,”

It has yet to be revealed if Toonami will also get to air the new season at some point at this time.
