“Let me guess, you seventeen [Kana]? You’re all tangled up like in a knot, huh? And you’re all muddled in the head. Bet you’re thinking today will be like yesterday, yesterday like the day before yesterday, and so on and so on. Seventeen has arrived. Life can’t wait forever.”
– Haruko Haruhara, FLCL Alternative (Ep. 01)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for September 8-9, 2018. After 8 weeks of anticipation, FLCL Alternative makes its premiere on Toonami (besides the surprise premiere in April Fools) as Kana and her pals run into Haruko. Meanwhile Deku has a big target on his head in the next stage of the tournament, while Historia is revealed to be the heir to the throne, and Josuke and Koichi run into Okuyasu Nijimura, among other great moments.
It was a very rough night for Twitter trends, as no trends were spotted in the US, while only a tweet count for Toonami was spotted. Things were a bit better on Tumblr as Attack on Titan trended alongside #BHNA and #JJBA.
Speaking of FLCL, I have finally completed the final part of my SDCC coverage for ToonamiFaithful.com in my “Toonami related Highlights and Musings of #SDCC 2018” article. You can check it out by clicking on the link.
Big news for Black Clover fans as during Labor Day, Crunchyoll had announced that season 2 of Black Clover is in the works. The new season will begin airing in Japan and available for streaming in October, the week after the first season completes its run. It has yet to be announced how many episodes will be in this new saga. Funimation had also announced that as with season 1, they will indeed dub season 2 of Black Clover and will have it available for streaming on their FUNimation Now service. No word yet if Toonami will also be continuing the series as well as of this writing, but we will keep you posted.

Sword Art Online also got some big news this week as Aniplex released a new trailer for the upcoming third season of the franchise, which is set to premiere in Japanese airwaves on October 6. It’s been mentioned many times that Alicization is a long arc, and reports have indicated that the new season will be a 4 cour arc, or around 50 episodes. Aniplex will be hosting world premiere events of the first episode in several countries to commemorate the launch of Project Alicization and the US one will take place at the Montalban Theatre in Los Angeles this Saturday September 15. And in a first for me, I will be going up to LA again to cover this special event for ToonamiFaithful.com, so stay tuned and follow @ToonamiNews for any potential news and updates.
And of course the big news of the week, as we get prepared for Boruto’s English Dub premiere on September 29, Toonami will be expanding to the 9pm hour then as Boruto will premiere at 10:30pm ET with Boruto’s Dad Shippuden moving up to 10 to precede it. DBZ Kai will return to lead off the block while Samurai Jack will return to end it off. Other notable timeslot changes include My Hero Academia moving up to 9:30, Dragon Ball Super moves to 11, Attack on Titan moves to midnight, Black Clover and Hunter x Hunter switch spots at 1 and 1:30am. Make sure to set your schedules and DVRs in 2 weeks if need be.
Not much else to say other than see you again next week for another round of the better cartoon show. Later.
