“[The Shadows want to fight?] Then let them go wild. Hurry, there’s not much time. Just 10 minutes to show Moriah the meaning of terror. It’s time to escape from this hell. Now get going, Nighmare Luffy.”

–          Lola, One Piece (Ep. 370)

The Toonami Trending Rundown for November 26-27, 2016. A new era for the better cartoon show approaches as Intruder 3 completes its 4 week run. In terms of trending, Toonami and only 3 shows, JoJo’s, Hunter x Hunter, and One Piece, managed to trend this week. One Piece did produce a character trend in Luffy as the Rolling Pirates plant shadows into Luffy in order to multiply his fighting strength and grant him new skills, in an attempt to defeat Moriah.

This week’s feature was the finale of Intruder 3, which in addition to wrapping up the storyline, introduced the setting for Toonami going forward. If you missed it or want to see it again, you can check it out below.

Some interesting news also came up from Sunrise during the night as during the Code Geass 10th Anniversary event, it was announced that the series would be getting a new sequel in addition to a three-part compilation film that recaps the previous 2 seasons. The sequel will take place several years after the “Zero Requiem” plan, however it’s presently unknown if this will be an anime series or an OVA or movie. As you may know, Code Geass was on Adult Swim Action back in 2008 and while it’s too early to say anything at this point, this could be one to watch out for as a potential candidate to air on the better cartoon show in the future depending on how things go. In terms of social media buzz, Code Geass did trend in the US as a result of the announcement.

As Gundam IBO heads into an off season (English dub premiere-wise) in 2 weeks, Gundam fans will still be able to get their fix in the meantime as Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 will be premiering on Toonami on January 7 at 1am Eastern. Based on the novel by Harutoshi Fukui and adapted into a 7 part OVA series from 2010-2014, RE:0096 is a television rebroadcast of the OVA that is 22 episodes in length. It’s been awhile since a Universal Century era Gundam series has aired on Cartoon Network, with Char’s Counter Attack back in 2003 to my knowledge being the last one. Combined with the positive reception of the Unicorn OVAs and demand for more Gundam, the show will be one to look forward to in the new year.

Of course, Unicorn will far from be the only thing that will join the block in the near future, with many possible developments for new shows still to come in the coming year. Interestingly enough, Jason did post a poll regarding the possibility of new shorter shows with Tokyo Ghoul, Mob Psycho 100, and Lupin the III Part 4 among the options. The poll lasted for a day with 6,847 users responding and Mob Psycho winning with 43% of the vote, followed by Tokyo Ghoul at 24%, Lupin at 20% and an alternative choice at 13%. Keep in mind that this is just a survey and time will tell whether any of these shows will be picked up in the months ahead. As always, if you want to see these shows or any show for that matter make it to Toonami eventually, let them know on their Facebook and Tumblr pages.

Tune in next week as Iron Blooded Orphans showcases the penultimate episode of season 1, while the Cell Saga comes down to its final 3 episodes, among other great moments. Until next week, stay gold.
