“Gohan’s still alive. There’s no way he’s leaving his family alive. […] I love and believe in my husband. And because it’s important that his baby girl knows that, too. To Pan, her dad is a hero, whether he’s in a costume or not. I know he won’t lose. And that’s why I know he’s still alive. His strength makes me stronger too. My job as a mom is to make Pan feel safe and I can’t do that if I feel scared.”
– Videl, Dragon Ball Super (Ep. 75)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for August 7-8, 2018. Big changes are incoming, as among other great moments, Gohan gets himself an acting role as the Great Saiyaman’s stunt double, while Jotaro tries to finds ways to counter Dio’s The World stand, and season 1 of My Hero Academia comes to a close.
On tumblr, #Toonami would trend alongside #My Hero Academia and #JoJo. No trends were spotted on Twitter save for tweet counts, unfortunately.
This week, Toonami showcased the new trailers for the upcoming seasons of Attack on Titan and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, both set to premiere in less than 2 weeks. Check them out below.
Other Toonami related news of note from this week include:
- For the Labor Day Weekend Marathon coming up on September 1, Toonami will marathon all 13 episodes of My Hero Academia season 1 from 10pm-4:30am. For those who want to re-watch the show from the beginning, set your DVRs.
- In One Punch Man news, according to Yonkou Productions, Episode 1 of season 2 will be released to the public this upcoming Sunday. Unfortunately due to production issues, the rest of Season 2 however, will not be airing until early 2020. Hope you guys have the patience. Regarding an official statement, Viz Media on Friday tweeted “Check back August 12th at 5 am (PDT) for the OFFICIAL news”. For those who want to re-watch One Punch Man in anticipation for season 2, Toonami will be giving the show an encore run beginning this week at 2:30am ET.

- In Sword Art Online news, Aniplex will be hosting world premiere events for season 3 in Japan, the United States, Australia, France, Germany, Russia, and South Korea. Additional details for these events are still to be announced. While the episode count for Project Alicization is still to be determined, the season premiere set to air in Japan this October will be an hour long episode. For those headed to Otakon this week, Bryce Papenbrook and Cherami Leigh will be hosting another SAO panel on Saturday, so be on the lookout for some potential news regarding the franchise there.
And for those that missed it, I released my second of three interviews from Comic-Con this week as I talked to Megan Taylor Harvey, the voice of the FLCL Alternative protagonist Kana. You can check it out by clicking here.
Tune in next week as JoJo’s showcase the finale of Stardust Crusaders, while My Hero Academia begins season 2, among other great moments. Until next week, stay gold.
