The Toonami Trending Rundown for August 19-20, 2017. A blast from the past makes its return as after 16 years since it originally wowed Toonami fans, Outlaw Star is back on the better cartoon show. And the night would be a fun one as Gene and Jim are hired by Hilda to be her bodyguard, only to get in the middle of a brawl for some certain treasure. Meanwhile Dio’s minions try and stop JoJo and the crew from heading to Egypt and Biscuit helps train Gon and Killua in surviving Greed Island, among other moments.
On Twitter, every show from JoJo’s to Outlaw Star would successfully trend in the US during their respective East Coast airings in addition to Naruto Shippuden and Outlaw Star during its West Coast airings, making sure the latter would begin its run on a high note. In addition, Toonami, Dragon Ball Super, JoJo’s and Hunter x Hunter would also trend on tumblr.
And finally, for the 18th time in its run, Dragon Ball Super makes it once again it to Nielsen Social’s top 5 most talked about shows on the day on Twitter and Facebook, making it to the #2 spot. This is the 31st time a Toonami show has reached this list since we started recording this feat.
This week’s feature was a game review of The Flame and the Flood, developed by The Molasses Flood. It received a score of 7.5 out of 10.
Good news, Samurai Jack fans. Following a successful airing of season 5, it has been announced that a Blu-Ray and DVD set of the series finale is in the works, set for release on October 17. In addition, Adult Swim will also release a box set of the entire series, which also includes a HD remaster of seasons 1-4. I’m sure Toonami fans will be wanting this in their collections.
