Fans patiently awaiting the Samurai Jack revival has received a sweet treat today in the form of a picture.

It appears as if Samurai Jack was teased at the Annecy 2016 festival, as a graphic of the new season was showcased. This event is taking place in France as we speak (The festival is happening from June 13-18). For those unfamiliar with this festival here’s a synopsis of what this is all about from Wikipedia.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival, (abbreviated as AIAFF) was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France. Initially occurring every two years, the festival became an annual event in 1998. It is one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation.

The festival is a competition between cartoon films of various techniques (animated drawings, cut-out papers, modelling clay, etc.) classified in various categories: such as feature films, short films, films produced for televisions and advertising, student films, films made for the internet (since 2002)

Throughout the festival, in addition to the competing films projected in various cinemas of the city, an open-air night projection is organized on Pâquier, in the centre of town, amongst the lake and with the mountains. According to the topic of the festival, classic or recent films are projected upon the giant screen. On Saturday evening, all the award winners are presented.

It was reported by @Chevistian that the Samurai Jack Revival will be 10 episodes that span a total of five hours. So it looks as if creators moved to have this as a longer movie instead of a typical season that animation fans have come accustomed too.

Chevistian also reported that the story will come to close after these last 10 episodes, as well as it having a more adult vibe than it previously had (evident by the blood you see in the picture). It will also take place 50 years after season four ended. Chevistian also reported that series creator Genndy Tartakovsky tells everyone to expect it soon and does nothing but add to the hype that fans had before. It was announced earlier in the year that Samurai Jack would return to Toonami with all new episodes, and it looks as if we are getting close to seeing it broadcast on the block.

We have been able to confirm that Genndy did a panel at the Festival, but at the moment, that’s the only thing we have confirmation on.
