On Sunday, May 25, Crunchyroll presented its annual Anime Awards. As part of the voting process, 6 animes were chosen for each category. Voting was opened to fans in April, and the winners were announced this past Sunday. Ninja Kamui was one of the anime chosen for Best Original Anime and this year came out on top. The other nominees included Girls Band Cry, Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night, Bucchigiri?!, Metallic Rouge, and Train to the End of the World.

According to Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards website, an anime chosen for the Best Original Anime is defined as the following:
An original anime showcases storylines not adapted from source material like manga or light novels; it is a new creation. These original works of art mesmerize audiences with the quality of new stories.
Adult Swim now has an award-winning anime as part of it catalog on Max and the Adult Swim app, though they have yet to add this accolade to their social media accounts. Will we see other Adult Swim anime win awards in the future? We shall see.
