It was announced today at Annecy that Ninja Kamui will return for two additional seasons. According to Adult Swim’s press release: the next season, Ninja Kamui Season Two: Red Vendetta, “will follow Higan as he uncovers a new conspiracy of cataclysmic proportions.” Sola Entertainment will return to helm Ninja Kamui for Adult Swim but there was no mention of Sunghoo Park’s studio E&H Production, at least thus fair.

This news comes hot on the heels of the first season taking home the award for best original anime at the 2024 Crunchyroll Awards. When the first season was airing, it regularly held a spot among the weekly top 10 on Max. It has yet to be released on physical media in the US, but it continues to sell very well on digital platforms like AppleTV.

The video game Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins, developed by Rainmaker Productions, served as a prequel, but from the vague description given at Annecy, the story looks to be moving forward not backward.

During our extensive coverage of the first season through numerous podcast discussions and interviews with the voice actors Jeremy Gee and Joe Daniels, we contemplated what form a second season could take. We’re excited to see more original content coming to Toonami. Where do you think Ninja Kamui will go from here? Let us know in the comments below.

Special thanks to Adult Swim PR.
