It’s very rare that I get a chance to write articles about artist in my home state of Alabama, let alone my city where I was born and raised, but sometimes the universe has a way of making things happen in a good way for you. I was chilling at my frat brother Freeze’s studio just hanging out before doing the HBCU Insider Podcast. In comes this cat named Haru who was laying down some tracks in the booth and then I hear him mention that one of the beats sounds like that old school Adult Swim from back in the day and right there I was like yeah this dude is a fan. We get to talking and eventually I let him hear some of the stuff I helped produce with Nerdcore Absolution, which Haru actually liked.

So I heard him doing some bars for Warm It Up Kane which is a short free style, but has a lot of impact when you hear it. I like the fact that this song has a mixture of that old school hip hop feel that puts you in the mind frame of Big Daddy Kane even though this track is short. I was definitely feeling it. That’s why I wanted to take a moment and spotlight this track.

I’m glad I had a chance to meet Haru. He is a pretty talented rapper who likes Adult Swim and Toonami, though when it comes to my city you have a lot of artist who are talented but get little to no recognition because in Birmingham you have people who are cliquish which ends up limiting the support of artists who actually produce a great sound with their music. So check out Haru. You won’t be disappointed.
