To celebrate Goku Day (May 9), Toei Animation announced that a second Dragon Ball Super film will premiere in 2022. While many knew a new movie was in the works and leaks spreading like wildfire, the animation studio officially confirmed the news, giving Dragon Ball Super fans something to look forward to next year!

Not much is known about the project, as far as the story or if any antagonists from older films will make their Super return. But many are eager to see what is in store after the wonderful message creator Akira Toriyama left, giving fans a little insight into what he is thinking on how Toei Animation will tackle the film.

There are also rumors floating around about parts of the film being in CG. Toriyama mentioned in his note that the movie will be “charting through some unexplored territory in terms of visual aesthetics…”. It will be interesting to see what the studio decided to do for this film.

Of course, it shouldn’t be a surprise that another Dragon Ball Super film is happening. Due to the success of the Broly film (earning $124 million worldwide) and the recent success with Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, it would appear that anime properties are making a change to add more films to their arsenal. But while we wait for more information to come out, Toonami Faithful will have every angle covered!
