According to the most reputable DragonBall Z news source, Kanzenshuu, a leaked image out of the pages of V-Jump confirms the return of DragonBall Kai this April to FujiTV replacing Toriko.

DragonBall Kai (named DragonBall Z Kai here in the US) was an abridged and recut version of the original DragonBall Z series, with newly redrawn segments, to match the manga more closely. It premiered in 2009 and ran until 2011 with 98 episodes in total. Only 97 aired on Japanese TV, the series was cut short due to the tragic tsunami in March 2011. The series was replaced by Toriko the week after.

The series was brought over to the United States by FUNimation Entertainment where it was broadcast on Nicktoons and The CW. The original DragonBall Z series, as well as DragonBall, DragonBall GT and various films from the franchise originally aired on Toonami for many years.

At the current time there’s no word on any US release for the remainder of the series.

DragonBall Kai will return to FujiTV on Sunday, April 6, 2014.
