The Toonami Trending Rundown for November 30-December 1, 2013. Unfortunately Twitter wasn’t very nice to us as the trending list was frozen for many individuals during the night (perhaps because Twitter’s maintenance crew is on holiday…well that or this is Twitter’s way of protesting SAO’s preemption for the month), along with other major events such as the death of the Fast & Furious star Paul Walker (may his soul rest in peace) and Auburn’s 34-28 victory over Alabama, but some folks were fortunately able to spot some trends as Toonami and every show with the exception of Ghost In The Shell and InuYasha trended in the US, making sure Naruto ends its uncut run on Toonami as well as FLCL’s current run with a bang.
We also got some special trends with Reaper Chop (as Lord Death gave one to Medusa…and he and Spirit oogled at her bloomers, I might add) as well as our old buddy hamster Hamtaro (which was randomly mentioned by Naota’s father). We also got some promos for next week’s film, Akira as well as one for Space Dandy which is only a month away from premiering, and both shows also trended in the US. Unfortunately, due to the Twitter glitches, among other moments, nothing managed to hit the worldwide lists, and (while this might be nitpicking) Bloomers didn’t trend despite that this week’s episodes of Soul Eater, Sword Art Online, and (the lack of in) FLCL showed us…if you know what I mean.
Anyways, as you may know, Naruto will be replaced with Naruto Shippuden, but unfortunately due to movie month, Shippuden won’t begin until the expansion occurs on January 4th…or whenever Space Dandy is ready. So for those that aren’t caught up yet, it’s probably a good time to binge watch the show, if you’re up for it. You’ll need to watch up to Episodes 135 (if you want to skip the filler arc) or 220 (if you don’t). Or if you’re doing it via the manga, you’ll need to read up to Chapter 245 to get to Shippuden’s starting point.
Tune in next week as Toonami ends the year with a month of movies, with the anime classic Akira first right off the bat. And just to let you know, everything from Bleach to Sword Art Online will have the month off to make way, as well as FLCL’s repeat run on some nights, depending on the movie’s length. It kinda sucks that it will take longer for those shows to continue and complete their runs, but considering that some viewers may be unable to watch the block during the holidays for traveling reasons, among others, that might not exactly be a bad thing. And in particular for all the SAO haters out there (especially those that lost faith in it after Aincrad ended), enjoy your month free of SAO nerdrage but be warned that the show has to finish it’s run eventually so as they say, you’re only prolonging your death. I also should mention that if Toonami actually did cave in to some people’s demands and gave SAO the “deathslot” treatment, it probably wouldn’t be preempted next week, so pick your poison wisely…but seriously in the words of Jose Argumedo (ironically), y’all really need to chill.
