The Toonami Trending Rundown for December 17-18, 2016. We complete JoJo’s Phantom Blood story arc, in addition to kicking off the Battle Tendency arc as Toonami and every show successfully trended in the US during their East Coast airings, while both JoJo’s and Hunter x Hunter also trended during their West Coast airings, and both Toonami and JoJo’s also trended on tumblr. In addition, Hunter x Hunter also produced a character trend in Hisoka as he pulls off a comeback against Kastro by giving him a “Memory Overload”.
Toonami also showcased a teaser this week for Dragon Ball Super, which along with the Buu saga and Gundam Unicorn, premieres in just 3 weeks. The hashtag #DragonBallSuper also trended briefly as a result of the promo.
For those wondering what will happen after One Punch Man’s encore run is over, Toonami will be giving Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex another run starting on February 4th at 3am Eastern. Especially with the new film coming about on March 31st, giving GITS an encore run perhaps couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.
And as you may know, with many folks out for the holiday season especially with Toonami night being on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve this year, the block will be taking the last two weeks of the year off from regular festivities, with a JoJo’s marathon next week followed by a DBZ Kai marathon the week after. Toonami will also showcase a few animated shorts during the holidays, with the premiere of Scavengers during Christmas as well as a showcase of the viral music video Shelter during New Years. Especially with Super and the Buu Saga coming about in 3 weeks, if you’re falling behind with Toonami programming as of late, now might be a good time to catch up with these marathons, as well as DVR and on-demand services.
