  1. Time to drop one piece to a later time slot since nobody wants to watch it and wow I’m really liking blue exorcist also I’m glad shippuden is doing good.

    • I think I can speak positive for One Piece because right now it’s in its best place right now and plus it’s funimation best work in dub. The story is getting good likewise, but I think I know the audience for toonami is pure action and not storyline. It’s not a issue, but I would like to say Jason is well assured to keep One piece where it is. For the sake of Attack on Titan please keep One piece where it is because if One Piece isn’t successful that means AoT won’t be either. Because it expands just like One Piece in story and action, yes it’s more mature, but like One Piece it has a very biased fanbase. I still watch it either way and I want to keep there for the sake of telling a very good storyline each week.

        • Depends on how the Funimation slots do though. Because like I said this is Funimation’s best work in dub and it is at the best place in the storyline. In order to prove funimation has earned the respect they placed their best work; One Piece, Space Dandy, Soul Eater and FMA Brotherhood into their timeslots. I really like people to reconsider One Piece though, I can’t put my finger on why people have such a hard time with the show. I mean I guess the art is different from other Shonen meaning being different from sheep is usually unacceptable or idk. Otherwise I accept the opinion either way, but its up to Jason though. I like it where it is now in its best HD quality.

          • Though I agree with supporting FUNimation’s shows to get Attack on Titan (as well as Psycho-Pass, Future Diary, Michiko to Hatchin, and other possible goodies) a possible future timeslot, it’d be best if people STOP watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. That show has been airing way too damn long, and I doubt that people not watching FMAB would affect other FUNi shows (if anything, it’s a sign that the show has already run its course and needs to be taken off). It’s starting to become the new Cowboy Bebop.

          • You have to understand, everything after 230am is classics. Even I’m not awake or at home to watch that, if anything I at least dvr them for the purpose to watch them later. Now to everything before that is new material and premieres, Bleach is new ever weekend on live tv, so is Shippuden, One Piece, Dandy, Soul Eater, Blue, those shows are first time on Toonami/Adult Swim premieres. Like if FMA does its reruns fine with me, because they have 64 episodes to air which is good if anyone wants to catch that. Bebop has 26 so it’s a short run, but a good one. Rerun of classics after 230 is alright, but before that is what matters because that’s where new material and premieres belong and that’s where the most people are awake or at home.

          • I think it’s you who doesn’t understand what I’m talking about. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood has been airing ever since Toonami came back in 2012. It hasn’t been taken off the lineup ever since.

Cowboy Bebop was a show that was rerun to hell and back on Toonami, to the point where it started pulling in low ratings and people started to get sick of the show. Fortunately, the show was FINALLY taken off due to Toonami losing the rights.

That’s what I mean when I say that FMAB is becoming the next Bebop. It’s been airing for way too damn long and needs to be taken off. I don’t care if Toonami either replaces it with a different show or doubles up on Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Just get FMAB off the lineup already before it starts to tank in ratings like Cowboy Bebop did.

          • It just sounds like you dislike FMA, I mean what happens if they double GITS? Are you going to dislike that show as well afterwards? Come on have some backbone it’s not like FMA shows the same episode once every hour. It’s over 60 eps and Bebop and GITS are like 26 eps. It keeps things stable, that would be me arguing why they keep running King of the Hill every night when it’s over? There is just nothing else right now to premiere at the moment, so we gotta do reruns. Things are fine as they are. Here I will say this just so we can quiet I won’t mind One Piece moving to 230am, just keep premiering the dub in HD that’s all I ask.

          • I don’t hate FMAB, but I don’t exactly like it either. Regardless of what I think of the show, the fact of the matter is that it’s been airing way too long.

The thing about certain shows is that you can only rerun them for a certain amount of time before they eventually become stale. Not even Cowboy Bebop is immune to this, and neither is Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I also don’t care if the show airs a different episode every night. It could randomize its episodes for all I care, that still doesn’t change the fact that it’s becoming stale.

You know, Toonami currently has The Big O on the backburner along with FLCL, right? I’d rather they air reruns of those shows (hopefully with Season 1, in the case of The Big O), alternating between them to keep things more interesting. That’d be a hell of a lot more interesting than another episode of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. There’s also other shows that Toonami could possibly rerun, such as Trigun, Outlaw Star, Code Geass, Moribito… they could rerun those shows a couple times before switching them out for something different.

Bottom line, FMAB has run its course. It doesn’t keep things “stable”, it makes things “stale”. It’s time that the show be finally taken off and replaced with something else. Again, I don’t care if they air two episodes of Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. in the same hour (which I would actually like, since GITS is a good show and hasn’t had a chance to fully air on Toonami), bring back The Big O or FLCL, or manage to get the rights to rerun another [adult swim] anime show like Trigun.

          • The problem with all those shows are the rights. I mean I would want to see Rurouni Kenshin on Toonami, but right now it’s difficult because of the rights on merch, dvds, music, and of course the commerical runs with the Japanese divisions because it’s not popular right now to watch or buy. I would be happy to see remastered versions of NGE or Kenshin on Blu-Ray, but it cost $$$ and right now a lot of people are unemployed and trying to go with first priorities. The USA has a pop of over 300 million people compared that to the ratings, that’s not even close to 5% of people watching Toonami. This is my last rant to you, just leave it to Jason and the Toonami crew and just enjoy what they can get.

          • I understand that rights can be an issue, but Toonami was able to get the license to Eureka Seven and air it. At the time, the show was in limbo after Bandai halted production. Not only that, but they were able to get IGPX back, despite Cartoon Network writing the show off.

If they could get Eureka Seven and IGPX onto Toonami, I doubt they’d have much trouble getting the rights to Trigun, Outlaw Star (both of which have been licensed by FUNimation), or Season 1 of The Big O (which has been picked up by Sentai Filmworks).

Also, don’t bring irrelevant matters such as costs (in terms of rights, of course) and unemployment into this. That just shows me you’re running out of things to throw into this argument.

          • It’s not cheap, you heard what Toonami says all the time. “We want it, but we need $$$.” It’s not as simple, plus not being paid for running the block is another thing. It’s like charity work to them because they want to do it. Sometimes it’s simple with the new stuff, but older stuff it’s harder because of what they left behind is usually a gold mine to a company and the directors behind it. Takes time, that’s all.

          • The Toonami crew doesn’t exactly say “we need mo money” all the time. In fact, I don’t think I’ve heard them acknowledge their budget for a long time, and considering its been a year or two since Toonami came back, their budget might have increased a good amount since then.

This argument has shifted from “FMAB needs to be taken off” to “Toonami’s budget and getting older shows”. Why did the subject change all of a sudden?

          • Because the budget is about saving money by using long running shows like FMAB that are good and cheap. So they can keep releasing music videos, commercials, reviews, movies, and premieres on a better budget.

          • It may save money, but the problem, as I’ve stated before, is that the show will eventually get stale. It happened with Cowboy Bebop, and the result was that the show’s ratings eventually started dropping like a rock in a lake. That’ll happen with FMAB if it doesn’t get taken off. Yet again, they could always alternate between The Big O and FLCL, or double up on Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C.

        • Its depends on the viewership of Funimation slots though. If you haven’t notice the One Piece dub is by far Funi’s best work for a long series that is hard to justify. Attack on Titan is the same thing because if does come on air it’s not going to be in Japanese, it’s going to be Dubbed and being a Funi property it’s good to know what kind of work you are dealing with.

          • LOL this conversation has gone on too long. Okay I get what your saying. Most of funiamtion’s shows haven’t done very well like Viz with the exception being Space Dandy, but I think Funimation understands the issue, but has a good enough relationship with Toonami unlike Viz to keep giving new shows

          • It has gone too far, I mean it urks me a lot people just dislike the show without giving at least a watch or a proper explanation. I won’t mind it moving back, but keep it running though that’s my real request. It’s a good show that’s all I am going to say, I won’t force people to watch it, if they don’t want to. I’m just really disappointed why people can’t give a proper explanation.

          • I gave it a try but there were characters I didn’t like example ussop was so annoying crying over a ship wtf and Luffy the captain has the brain of a kid in kindergarten.

          • That ship has a history that starts in the early episodes on why it’s important as friend to the crew. Just like your favorite thing in the world, if you were about to lose it after having for such a long time. Then, you kinda get the feeling and you don’t want to give it up and believe the truth that it’s over. I said it before a lot of times, I mean for One Piece you gotta have a soul to watch that show, maybe its me I been seeing it since Middle School, now finishing for my college degree that I understand the journey and what it is really about up now (It’s currently at Ep 635 in Japanese and still going.) Maybe it’s just me that I can watch shows from Berserk to Nisekoi and understand the maturity of the stories as I got older. I don’t know, I won’t force anybody to watch or like it, but I’ll give you a proper explanation why I like it that’s all.

          • Haha did you just say people who don’t watch one piece don’t have a soul. What I do think the problem with one piece is the artwork it’s weird and just to finish a series like that takes a life commitment my cousin says one piece manga still has no end in sight and come on no story is good enough to spend that many years on.

          • Well it kinda does go long lol. Oda stated that the series will end in 10 years, so that’s 8-10 arcs. The reason I say that people have to a soul to watch One Piece is because One Piece is basically a kids/young teen show with a deep story and a journey that I will admit takes alot of time to understand. One Piece isn’t the longest series out to date though, even Berserk still isn’t finished and that’s before even One Piece. Yea, people have said the art is weird which I won’t blame them, it’s different from a lot of manga.

If you ever read the Attack on Titan manga, people will even say that’s even worse. I don’t think it’s terrible, but what people don’t know that the artist behind it is that it’s his first piece of work and yet he didn’t draw the anime and it’s better than manga. Oda: the author who draws the One Piece manga, before he started the series he also worked on Rurouni Kenshin with the author Watsuki and other manga on the old school Shonuen Jump Weekly. You can see why alot of the shows like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece are different because the style is very unique from the older material like DBZ, Sailor Moon, Rurouni Kenshin. Which is why people have a hard time adjusting to the new material. I don’t know, One Piece to me there is a bigger picture to it, makes it different from the other Shonuen series and a lot of it has to do with adventure, politics, philosophy, and human nature behind a different assortment of characters, then besides the Luffy and his crew.

  2. Sadly I think One Piece needs to drop behind Blue Exorcist people obviously like Blue Exorcist more. I for one love both.

    • I would still keep it there. My reason next to Space Dandy it has the best quality in HD has to offer next to Bleach and even Blue running up. We need to have One Piece there because it keeps watchers entertain with a story and plus with it being a funimation slot more viewership means more new shows. One Piece isn’t bad at all especially where it’s at, it’s the fanbase of Toonami that just wants pure action instead of a storyline.

        • It goes back to why people won’t watch IGPX or even GITS. They are both masterpieces, but they lack quality and understanding. One Piece has quality you see it especially if you have a large flat, colors are bright. I think it is the understanding of the plotline and buildup that has people getting tired of waiting for that action. I mean we are dealing with old school DBZ fans who were into pure action. Don’t get me wrong DBZ is still amazing, but I consider more of One Piece just because the story gets better and as well as the quality. Even look up ratings for the show in Japan, it’s in its ten top all over the country. Even surpassing the Walking Dead rating every week here in the US. It’s a tough call, but I really want Toonami to keep One Piece at least until they reach that point where everything goes chaos if you know what I am talking about. That’s where I say okay One Piece needs a break.

          • “It goes back to why people won’t watch IGPX or even GITS. They are both masterpieces, but they lack quality and understanding.”

Uh, dude… you just contradicted yourself.

          • I’m talking about other people, not myself. I like those shows, but lets admit it they had their run in the premiere slots and then became classics, that’s how it works for adult, why do you think they do reruns of Family Guy and Robot Chicken after 230am? People are either asleep or out around that time.

    • Shippuden is good where it’s at. As much as I want One Piece to move, it’s plain in view difficult for people to accept different things. The slots are in their right place.

      • “The slots are in their right place.”

If that were the case, then Samurai Jack and Star Wars: The Clone Wars would be at 2:30 AM and 3:00 AM (or 3:30 AM and 3:00 AM, if the Toonami crew wanted to pair Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. with the upcoming Black Lagoon) instead of 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM.

          • Uh, no. 11:30 PM to 3:00 AM (and possibly 3:30 AM, but that’s pushing it a little) is for shows that haven’t aired on Toonami before or haven’t aired for a long time, like Star Wars: The Clone Wars (hasn’t aired before) and Samurai Jack (hasn’t aired in a long time). Putting a show at 4:00 AM right off the bat is more or less giving it a death sentence.

To clarify, The Clone Wars is a show that hasn’t aired on Toonami before, but did air on [adult swim] before, hence why it started at 3:00 AM. Unfortunately, the Toonami crew had the oh-so-smart idea of rerunning the original Naruto (seriously, Toonami, stupid fucking move on your part) at 3:00 AM and decided to bump The Clone Wars down to 5:00 AM.

Samurai Jack is a show that, while having aired on Toonami before, hasn’t aired in a very long time. Not only that, but the crew basically hyped up the return of Jack like One Piece fans hyped up Water 7. And then they decide to place it at 4:00 AM, the deadest fucking hour of the night…

I understand that neither The Clone Wars nor Samurai Jack are ending up at the 1:00 AM hour anytime soon, but airing them at ungodly hours of the night either when they’re just starting or when they’re in the middle of their first run is practically criminal. In fact, TV Tropes has a term for that, and it’s called “Screwed by the Network”.

          • Both Clone Wars and Samurai ran on the same channel long ago even though Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are different identities they are both under the same president with different managers meaning they have premiered before on their respectful channels. No, it’s not a criminal act because these shows are at least years past due date. Samurai Jack is over 10 years old it’s a classic, we wanted it back because it was a Toonami property on Cartoon Network and the same goes to Star Wars Clone Wars, we did show the 2D art on Toonami when it was in Cartoon Network, so that’s why we have the Clone Wars series. Same goes to Naruto which aired in 2005. The current block right now are shows in their first prime, new episodes/material/dub on live television. I said it before and I will say it again after 230am is the classics/reruns. I mean you would want to watch AoT and Kill La Kill in 4 or 430 in the morning? Nobody is getting screwed here, we got a time spots and that’s it. Lets just have fun with it. I’m still watching the shows, I’m just not awake or home at the time.

          • You really don’t get it, do you?

Samurai Jack was hyped up almost as much as Space Dandy was, and yet Toonami decided to throw all that hype in the garbage and air the show at the deadest hour of the morning instead of airing it at a better timeslot like, say, 2:30 AM (after all, Samurai Jack was essentially replacing FLCL).

The 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show is a completely separate show from the 2003 Clone Wars made by Genndy Tartakovsky. The 2008 Clone Wars may have aired on Cartoon Network, but never on Toonami due to premiering just after the old Toonami had been cancelled. Now, it’s finally airing on Toonami… and it started off at 3:00 AM. Kinda late, but acceptable, considering that the show did air on Cartoon Network. Then, the Toonami crew had the bright idea to shove The Clone Wars down to 5:00 AM, in favor of airing Naruto reruns at 3:00 AM and then moving them up to 2:30 AM (mind you, the Toonami crew stated that the original Naruto would be LEAVING the lineup just before this change occurred).

“I mean would you want to watch AoT and Kill La Kill in 4 or 430 in the morning?”
That depends. Would Toonami move those shows down to the 4:00 AM hour after they finished a run or two up at 1:00 AM or 1:30 AM? They did that with IGPX after it finished its run at 2:30 AM.

Keep in mind that not everyone has Tivo or any other kind of DVR like you do, and those that don’t have it are forced to stay up all night if they want to watch those shows.

          • There was no hype for Jack all they show. There was only a picture on their tumblr just like they do for every other show. Even on live television they said we brought back Samurai Jack. Don’t tell me you would want it at 1am? Come on man, just stop. You are just ruining the fun now. We got the shows enough of this. That’s all enjoy Toonami end of story.

          • Yes, they posted pictures on the Tumblr. Before that, Jason DeMarco took the opportunity to finally announce the show on the Toonami Faithful podcast.

Again, I’m not expecting the show to air alongside Bleach at 12:30 AM, and I never asked for that. I only ask that Toonami doesn’t air Samurai Jack at THE DEADEST HOUR OF THE FUCKING NIGHT (I can NOT stress that enough). The most reasonable spot would be 2:30 AM, no higher than that. 3:00 AM would be fine. 3:30 AM is pretty low, but manageable. 4:00 AM is NOT where you start airing a show right off the bat.

Also, I’m not exactly “ruining the fun”. I might be, if I was complaining about Samurai Jack airing at 3:00 AM, but it’s not, so I’m not “ruining the fun”.

          • Yes well ratings is what toonami lives on and the original naruto series is bringing in around the same as one piece and just look at their time slots, people love their naruto because it’s awesome.

  3. I think when lagoon starts they should move one piece to 2am so the better shows get a change to pull better ratings as of right now one piece is pulling a ratings killer

    • Black Lagoon will be fine at that hour, because it won’t be censored as much in the earlier slots. If it pulls in ratings in that slot like it did for SAO in a million then that’s the perfect place.

  4. Pretty damn good ratings, no dropping below 500,000, excellent!
One Piece is still hanging in there, I’m sure they’ll get better ratings once a lot more of the story kicks into overdrive.

  5. How can One Piece drop so much? I find this strange. It trended on the US trends for Twitter. While some of the people do not know what the hashtag is even for, it still helps. Could be that the Nielsen Twitter ratings are still buggy and they are working out the kinks. If this were a election, I would ask for a recount.

This does not spell doom for the show. You would call this a “Outlier” in statistics terms. You would not count this unless there is a trend. I love the show and I am glad Toonami brought it back.

  6. Toonami should try to get anime on Fridays aswell, one day doesn’t seem enough especially when half of toonami Saturday time slots are when most kids are asleep.

  7. Blue Exorcist is blowing One Piece out of the fucking water. Why don’t they just move One Piece to a later time slot? One Piece fucking blows and these ratings week after week are proving it.

    • I would wanna know your personal explanation and opinion why you think it’s terrible. Like properly, not here to troll. I’ll hear you out, no hate, but a proper discussion.

  8. why the fuck do you people watch this shit. y’all need to get some pussy yah feel me. y’all pussy whipped as fuckkkk god dayum
