On Thursday, June 5, Toonami posted a schedule update on their official Facebook page and with it came a big announcement. Dragon Ball Daima is finally coming to Toonami, starting next Saturday, June 14 at 12:30 AM!
With the addition of Daima, Toonami is now playing the “big 4” of Shonen anime for the second time in Toonami history. Lazarus will start the block at midnight, followed by Daima at 12:30, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War at 1:15, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga at 1:45, One Piece at 2:15, Naruto at 2:45, and end with Sailor Moon at 3:15 a.m. The only change to Toonami’s current schedule will be the loss of one new episode of One Piece, which seems like a fair sacrifice in order to add another network premiere to the block. Episode 1 of Dragon Ball Daima, titled “Conspiracy,” has a runtime of 40 minutes, which explains why the rest of the block has moved time slots for one night.
The English dub of Daima originally aired on Crunchyroll in January of this year and is the sixth installment of the Dragonball franchise. Though original creator of Dragonball, Akira Toriyama, sadly passed away in March of 2024, he was involved in many aspects of production including story elements, character design, and more.
Stephanie Nadolny, the voice of Young Goku in GT and Dragon Ball, takes the reins once again as she reprises the role of Young Goku. You can hear the interview we recently did with her below.
Here’s a synopsis of the series:
“Dragon Ball Daima” follows Goku and his friends as they are turned into children due to a conspiracy involving the new Supreme King of the Demon Realm, Gomah. To reverse this change, they embark on a new adventure in the Demon Realm, seeking to gather native Dragon Balls and save Dende, who has also been kidnapped.
