As I sat here listening to Potential Energy for the first time, I felt like I was being transported into the realm of Osiris Green. True to the name of Osiris, this artist brings something to the nerdcore rap scene with transition, resurrection and regeneration starting from the first track of the album.
In a world where the mainstream has been watered down and warped into giving the masses just a bunch of MC’s who spit out a bunch of mumbled bars that you cannot even recognize as words, Osiris Green is clearly bringing some fire to the bars he is spitting in Potential Energy. To those who want that common brand garbage that is being played on the airwaves today, this album is not for you. In fact, if you are expecting some Fetty Wap or Future lyrics, do me a favor and release yourself from the gravitational pull of the Earth because you are not worthy to listening to this. With some serious beats backing the lyrics, Osiris Green has converted me into a fan already; the tracks come at you like a right cross from the great late Muhammad Ali stimulating your left and right hemispheres of your brain and imprinting itself into the deepest recesses of your subconscious mind for all of eternity.
My Favorite tracks on the album were Potential and Untouchable Flow. Both tracks demonstrate the way I remember rap back in the day when I was coming up, which is the art form of actually being good. I definitely like the way Osiris switches up his styles in the album that shows the skill and versatility of an artist and sing the praises that he isn’t sleeping on just being monogamous in his delivery. Well played sir, well played!
This is an album that is worthy of being played in the clubs and most definitely will see some serious play time in my car while cruising the streets for the summer. I have to rate this album a solid 9.5 out of 10 for Geek E. It would have been a perfect 10, but my reasoning behind the 9.5 is I wanted more tracks to blast. There is no doubt to the lyrical prowess of Osiris as a rapper and I suggest you cop this album right now because it does not disappoint.
