Eren: “What the hell are you doing, Historia?”
Historia: “Setting you free.”
Eren: “No, stop. You can’t. If you don’t kill me, then everyone else will keep suffering. Just eat me already, damn it! I can’t live like this, so end it.”
Historia: “Shut up, dumbass. Stop your crying. I don’t care. I don’t care about killing all the Titans, and I don’t care about freeing mankind either. I’m starting to get sick of humanity. I’d say let em get wiped out by Titans, and if that makes me an enemy of humanity, so be it. I don’t care if I’m the worst girl who’s ever lived. You get the hell out of here. I’ll deal with the rest.”
– Attack on Titan (Ep. 44)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for October 6-7, 2018. Fall is in the air as the Scouts begin their operation to save Eren from Kenny and the Reiss family, while Pets disappears from Kana’s circle of friends, and Kahano and Asta lend Noelle a hand in helping to control her powers, among other great moments.
Unfortunately, it was a bit of a tough night for trending to say the least as only Toonami managed to trend on Tumblr.
This week’s feature was the premiere of a new music video titled “Walk Free” by Brandon Coleman. You can check it out below.
Those that have been keeping up with simulcasts may know that the new season of anime titles have been making their debuts this week, and they’ll be a few titles we’ll be keeping a close eye on for a potential airing on the better cartoon show down the line. Among the other big titles include the highly anticipated third season of Sword Art Online, Part 5 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and season 2 of Black Clover. I previously gave my first impressions of Golden Wind in my Anime Expo article and I went to the SAO 3 premiere last month (which I released my article on just this week) and had the opportunity to interview Bryce Papenbrook about the new season.
While I personally believe we’ll see these three shows on Toonami sooner or later (sometime next year most likely), all I can say is if that if you want to see these franchises return or if you see a new show that you would recommend, send your show requests to Toonami’s Facebook and Tumblr message boxes as well as letting the respective distributors know on their respective outlets, and we’ll see what happens. In the meantime, for those wanting to see the subtitled simulcasts of the previously mentioned shows, Project Alicization is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation Now, and Hulu with new episodes every Saturday, while Golden Wind is available on Crunchyroll every Friday, and Black Clover continues to air on Crunchyroll and Funimation Now every Tuesday. And of course, make sure to keep up with the airings of JoJo’s Part 4 and Black Clover on Toonami as always.
Of course, those are shows we’ll likely be seeing in the not-too-distant to distant future. For something that’s coming in the near future…
During the Viz Media Panel at New York Comic Con, VIZ and TMS Entertainment have announced that the critically acclaimed anime series Megalo Box will indeed be making its English Dub debut on the better cartoon show beginning on December 8.
Based on the classic manga series Ashita no Joe which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Megalo Box is a reinvisioning of the original manga, with an original story that taking place in a futuristic setting and featuring new renditions of characters from the original series. Megalo Box ran in Japan from April 6, 2018 to June 29, 2018 and was also simulcasted on Crunchyroll, and became a big fan favorite during the spring 2018 anime season during the 13 weeks it has aired. With its acclaimed music, animation, and story among other things, it was no surprise that it was highly requested by fans for Toonami to eventually air the series.
Megalo Box’s timeslot on the schedule is yet to be determined. While it is expected to replace FLCL in the lineup (assuming Alternative has an encore run in that same timeslot) we’re also hearing unconfirmed reports that Attack on Titan will be taking an off-season after 12 episodes which will be completed around that same time, as the second cour of season 3 will begin in the winter 2019 season. So if that’s true, we may expect to see another show to premiere in December.
Tune in next week for the finale of FLCL Alternative, among other great moments. Until next week, stay gold as always.
