“I am…Tetsuo.”
– Tetsuo, Akira
The Toonami Trending Rundown for December 20-21, 2014. Week 3 of the month of movies is in the books as Toonami showcased a night of classics including the DBZ film The Legend of Broly in addition to an encore showing of Akira. As a result, #SamuraiJack, #DBZBroly, #Broly, and #Akira each trended during the duration of each broadcast, the latter two also during their respective west coast airings.
In addition, both DBZ and Akira each produced a character trend with Vegeta (as he was reluctant to lend his power to Goku, but ultimately decides to anyway) as well as Tetsuo (as he is consumed by Akira to prevent him from losing control of his powers). Not a bad night, considering that Toonami was going off the heels of the Chargers’ comeback victory over the 49ers in addition to One Direction hosting SNL at the same time.
Tune in next week as we end of the year with an encore airing of the first two installments of the Rebuild of Evangelion films. Until next week, have yourself a Merry Christmas, a Happy Kwanzaa and a Happy Hanukkah and stay gold.
Legend: The number next to the listed trend represents the highest it trended on the list (not counting the promoted trend), judging only by the images placed in the rundown. For the mobile app trends, the listed number of tweets are also sorely based on the highest number shown based on the images on the rundown.
