“If these feelings [for Tatsumi] are driving me, then i should be able to tap into some powers far beyond any I’ve ever had before. From now on, my battles will be even more intense.”

–     Mine, Akame ga Kill! (Ep. 19)

The Toonami Trending Rundown for January 16-17, 2016. A good night for Toonami’s social media buzz as once again, every single show trended during their respective East Coast airings, in addition to #Parasyte during it’s West Coast airing, as well as #DBZKai during it’s encore presentation.

In addition, Akame ga Kill, Parasyte, and Kill la Kill each produced at least one character trend with Mine (as she successfully kills off Seryu and Koro), Kana (as her intrigue for Shinichi, for lack of a better term, would ultimately lead to her murder by the hands of a Parasyte), and both Ryuko and Mako (as Ryuko goes berserk in finding out that Nui was her father’s murderer, and Mako successfully calms her down).

And as a bonus, the #SentaiHour, the hashtag used to commemorate the 12:30-1am hour as both Akame and Parasyte both come from Sentai, also managed to trend.

Tune in next week as DBZ Kai showcases the grand finale of the Frieza saga, among other great moments. Until next week, have a Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day, congratulations to Alabama for winning the National Championship, congratulations to Los Angeles for the return of the Rams and of course our sympathies for the people of St. Louis, and stay gold as always.

  1. No mention of Bowie, Rickman, Grizzly Adams, or even most of Celine Dion’s family all dropping like flies? That’s fucking weak.

Also, when I first saw the image pictured here, I thought that it showed Mine’s death. She didn’t actually die in this episode, did she? I don’t want any major spoileramas before I watch the entire block, which should happen tomorrow morning.
