“Have we been living here this whole time…just to end up as food?”

–          Emma, The Promised Neverland (Ep. 01)

The Toonami Trending Rundown for April 13-14, 2019. Emma and the children of Grace Field House would be welcomed in with open arms, as The Promised Neverland makes its debut on the better cartoon show. And among other great moments, Emma and Norman learn the truth of the purpose of their orphanage, while The League of Villains kidnap Bakugo, and Alice reappears as “Synthesis 30” and arrests Eugeo and Kirito.

On Twitter, Toonami would trend alongside The Promised Neverland and Hunter x Hunter. JoJo’s, Boruto, and Shippuden also trended alongside these shows, but not outright. Meanwhile on Tumblr, #Toonami would trend alongside The Promised Neverland, #BNHA, and #JJBA. The full list including statistics and tweet counts from the twitter app and Amr Rahmy’s Fan Screening analytics app can be seen below.

  • Big news for Attack on Titan fans this week, as we finally know when the series will be resuming on Toonami for Part 2 of Season 5: May 25. It’s position on the schedule is still to be determined and may likely coincide with another schedule change, depending on overall ratings and what else is on the horizon in the coming months. Since the weekend of May 25 is also Memorial Day weekend, it seems that Toonami will be forgoing a holiday marathon for that weekend for this year, so unless something changes, make sure to plan accordingly. We’ll let you know further details when they are revealed ahead.
  • In Boruto news, Viz Media has released the first volume, which contains the first 13 episodes of the Naruto sequel. It’s available to purchase at major anime selling retailers for $44.98.
  • And for those who didn’t get the chance to see it in theaters or who just want to watch it again, Funimation and Toei have just released the Blu-ray and DVD box set for Dragon Ball Super: Broly. You can order it at Funimation’s site or pick it up at your favorite anime selling retailer for a retail price of $34.98.

Until next week, have a Happy Holy Week and a Happy Passover, and of course, we do wish to send our sympathies to the friends, family, and fans of Lupin the Third creator Kazuhiko “Monkey Punch” Katō, whom had passed away after a battle with pneumonia at 81. On behalf of the Toonami Faithful and all Lupin fans, may your soul rest in peace, and thank you for all your work over the years.
