Today, Jason Demarco, creator of Toonami, announced via Twitter that the backdoor(which provided the Samurai 7 leak) and on air schedule(which had the recent Sword Art Online premiere date leak) are now both dead and will no longer be leaking any new series.   PLUS the Toonami crew will no longer be giving schedules to TV Guide(who provided the Soul Eater leak), the main point of all of this in the words of Demaro is as follows…

We believe in surprise and we believe in planning, to give a show premiere maximum impact. NOT messy internet bullshit. That’s how we feel.

Are you glad there will be no more leaks for future Toonami shows and schedules? Do you prefer on air surprises or getting the news weeks before hand? Tell us in the comments below or in the Toonami Faithful forum!

  1. I am perfectly fine with this decision, maybe they should quit giving out the ratings as well to make it like the old school days of toonami where no one complained and they just enjoyed the goods that were offered to them.
TOONAMI can only get better and better .

    STAY GOLD TOONAMI FAITHFULL

    • Jason would prefer the ratings not be posted. Adult Swim only posts their press releases for public consumption. Some websites get some of the ratings data but for the most part only the network and advertisers are privy to all the ratings the shows are getting.

Do you think we should stop posting the ratings and comparing them here?

      • no i do not i love seeing the rating’s and hearing your peoples opinions on how you think the block does week in week out

      • No keep posting rating if possible, because it actually gives a us chance to voice our opinions on what can be done to improve and actually mainstream Toonami and Japanese-influenced animation back into the United States.

  2. I’m more surprised at why they didn’t do this earlier! Nevertheless, it’s better happening now, rather than later where TV Guide can ruin it again.

  3. This was expected because everything gets leaked thanks to the Internet whatever happened to getting a suprise? Save the leaks for real situations like Natural Disasters and Police work because we could really use it there.

  4. I’ll miss the on-air grid schedule. I loved seeing the whole lineup conveniently laid out like that.
But its for the best *sniff*

  5. I dont like the surprises, as someone who dvrs or will VCR it , I cant always be up from 12am-6am. I dvr only the shows I want to watch and a few weeks ago it was 12-2am as the other shows I have already seen or I am not interested in , and now this basically means I need to dvr the entire 6hr block .. SMH …
