As you can see, ratings are very good in comparison to last year. What do you guys think? Comment below and let us know what you think.
🙂
A great improvement from last year, although that’s possibly due to several factors:
1. Toonami no longer does Double Airings. Last year during its comeback run, Toonami would air their small line up two times in a row. Because of this, viewers had no real reason to tune in after the first air run. And others would simply sleep through the first air run and wake up later during the second run of Toonami if they bothered to wake up and give ratings.
So since everything is a single run, people who tune in to Toonami and don’t watch the anime they air on the internet(Or Netflix) have to catch the original run or else they miss out.
2. Being Straight Forward: Ratings Keep Toonami Alive!
The people who brought back Toonami have made it boldly clear that if we want Toonami to survive and thrive onward, then we have to give it ratings! Jason DeMarco has made this especially clear.
We don’t want to lose Toonami, we had already lost it once, and we’re fighting to not lose it again.
3. Support and Acceptance!
Ever since the new Toonami had debuted, originally there was some rejection from older Toonami fans because it was not the Toonami they wanted. So they stopped supporting it thinking that it was simply going to be Adult Swim Anime Saturday with a Toonami Cover.
Of course, this later on gave birth to the TOM Speech “Haters” and a updated “Reruns” Speech, pretty much telling all supporters of the new Toonami to ignore the haters keep staying gold. And that the revived Toonami was still trying to get back onto its feet, that it was all a work in-progress.
And after several promos and speeches from Toonami that made it feel like the classical Toonami many knew and loved, while keeping in contact from the people who brought Toonami and support it. General acceptance grew over the years and so did the support.
4. They Listen to Us! And Rewards Us For Being Toonami Faithful:
It’s been shown time and time again, that the Toonami crew has been willing to hear Toonami Faithful’s feedback and ours suggestions to help make Toonami a better programming block. From hearing the suggestions of anime we desired, to things that we like to see or comeback. (Movie Nights, A New Rebooted Toonami to name a few examples).
When ratings have reached a new time high, or when we had a great night, we’re rewarded with enjoyable speeches and game reviews, And sometimes we’re given treats simply out of the kindness of the crew. So overall it helps greatly to know that we’re molding our newest Toonami and that the pay offs are wicked.
Maybe’s there’s a bit more, but overall, when seeing our first year compared to our current one, yeah Toonami has really made some headway!
Stupid question but I haven’t been keeping up, when did Sara come back?
Back in May, same night we got the new version of TOM.
It’s amazing how last year, the 5:30 AM timeslot usually got ratings around the 300,000 range. Fast forward to now, and the same timeslot has now gotten over 700,000 viewers.
I just hope that while the ratings grow, the standard for what ratings are good or bad don’t (in other words, if the block starts getting 5 mils on average, people will start freaking out if one night only gets 2 mil).
