  1. I’ve heard that this is a really good show, and it sounds like it will be a great addition to Toonami. I didn’t get the chance to check it out yet but i certainly will now that its being added. Also this can open up the chance for them to possibly air Gundam in the future if the hour format does well. The only problem i have with schedule change is that there still keeping FMA on. I would have rather seen Naruto stay on the lineup and just be moved down later in the night, im guessing that the rights to air it must expire on that night.

      • Yeah it just dosent need to be there, i mean there would be no problem with taking it off and then bringing it back to the block after a long time. Preferably like a year or two, but they are really just beating the joke to death here. And its really to bad that they couldn’t have turned Naruto into a Inuyasha type replacement like you had earlier mentioned.

        • Honestly, I only suggested Naruto replacing InuYasha in the event that Naruto continues past 52 episodes. I’d very much prefer not having Naruto on at all (besides, Toonami went out of their way to get Cowboy Bebop back. They might do the same with InuYasha, especially if they plan on airing The Final Act).

          • It would be nice if they ever did continue on even though they most likely won’t, i get what you mean though. Its because its a Viz show, they said that they were pricey to run. And yeah it would be nice if we got all of the show’s sequels sometime. ( Eureka AO, Tenchi Geminar, Roberta’s Blood Trail, and yeah The Final Act )

      • No. Not when it’s been replayed to hell and back, and the 64 episode count makes it worse. There’s a reason I’ve referred to it as the next Cowboy Bebop before.

        • Who cares it’s in the back if there is anything I would want to see it be replaced it would be Sailor Moon or anything beyond the 30 eps to help new material through out in front.

          • Being in the back of the lineup is irrelevant. FMAB has been airing ever since Toonami was revived back in 2012, and it’s long overstayed its welcome by now. Seriously, that’s not a hard concept to understand.

          • Okay, looking at my previous comment, I probably should’ve clarified, or at least worded it better, but that doesn’t mean that I proved your bullshit point.

What I meant was that whether or not a show is in the back of the lineup is completely irrelevant. Like I said before, I call FMAB the next Cowboy Bebop because Cowboy Bebop itself was given 3 runs in a goddamn row (slightly extended due to the Toonami crew screwing up the broadcast order), and the show quickly got stale to the point where it started hurting the ratings. The same thing is happening with FMAB, and it’s worse because it’s twice as long as Cowboy Bebop and hasn’t been given a break like Bebop was given before July. It doesn’t help that Toonami had many opportunities to remove the show off the lineup, but never did so, which is a shame since Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. (or at least 2nd Gig) has yet to fully air on Toonami, and that show ends up getting screwed over constantly while FMAB inexplicably stays on the lineup.

          • GITS just has issues like Big O and Jose stated as well it’s on Hulu right now. FMAB is there to reinforce the block that’s it. Worry about the front instead because we have plenty of shows right now that are huge candidates (zankyou no terror, akame ga kill, sailor moon crystal, sao2 and ect.) We also still have the issue of finding a US studio willing to see Toonami as center for pumping American quality animation shows. Because after what happened at Nick with Legend Of Korra I don’t know what studio is going to want to stand up anymore after that fiasco.

          • You keep trying to end the discussion by saying saying that the front is more important. That’s true, but that’s not the issue here. Stop trying to get out of this by bringing up the front of the block and actually bring up a decent goddamn argument.

Also, there’s no “issue” with Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C., since they can actually air both seasons (I’m assuming that the “issue” in question regards airing rights, since you bring up Big O) and it being on Hulu is irrelevant to the discussion.

You fail to clarify on “reinforcing the block”. If you mean keeping the ratings up the back, replaying a show to hell and back Cowboy Bebop-style is a pretty horrible way of reinforcing the back of the block, and as I said before, it’ll more likely harm the ratings instead.

          • You are sometime impossible mate lol. Whatever FMAB here to stay until Toonami says so. It’s a veteran show that’s good.

          • Consider the feeling mutual “mate”.

Yeah, FMAB is here to stay until Toonami says so… or until the airing rights run out. It happened with Cowboy Bebop once, and it could just as easily happen with FMAB.

“It’s a veteran show that’s good.” Try saying that when the show starts getting below 300,000.

      • Replace Brotherhood with OG Fullmetal which hasn’t been on the block or adult swim in YEARS… or find a similar show that won’t eat into the budget and has a similar length. Problem Solved!

        • OG FMA would be nice, but the issue is the sizing ratio. I seen it before on Shorts HD and it has to in OG TV sizing in order to be HD. So if it was to be stretched on Toonami it would look like Cowboy Bebop oldish quality. Compared to how it looked when it first started it should be looking better than Cowboy Bebop, but it wasn’t ever put through HD transfer like Bebop was.

          • Is Hellsing in HD? Im sure there were shows on the block before not in HD ex OG Naruto (I dont prefer SD), but I’m just looking for solutions. He you never know maybe there is a remastered OG FMA in the works…

          • That’s a good question last I remember about Hellsing’s format is that it is in the era when Japan started using HD tapes for their shows. The art in the show is pretty well thought out, so it has to be in HD.

          • Ah so we’re iffy on the details, I guess we’ll both find out when it premieres lol. But overall you do think OG FMA would be a good replacement if cheap and in better quality.

          • ok lets try this, black lagoon has one more small season that cant be shown on tv because hellsing couldnt wait till october.

          • Well, first of all, you said that they were getting rid of Black Lagoon when only 3 episodes were left. You were only referring to the two seasons, the second of which will finish its run on September 6th.

Secondly, by “small season”, you mean Roberta’s Blood Trail? The Toonami crew themselves said that they were going to air Black Lagoon’s two seasons, but they weren’t sure about the Roberta’s Blood Trail OVA. And with Hellsing Ultimate replacing Black Lagoon, either they couldn’t air the OVA for some reason, or they want to test the waters before airing RBT to see if airing anything that would take up an entire hour will work out. And that’s not to say that RBT won’t air in the future.

          • Ok if your saying they dont got the ova to air then its not a paragraph its just they cant air it, pretty simple.

And the on the first part, I just though it was obvious that I was saying that if the show kept playing till the 13th there would be eps left over but I forgot about the AoT marathon.
And how do you tell me what im referring to? lol I was wrong but thats hilarious.

        • The guy below or above me said it correctly. As for Roberta it’s 35 minutes each episode so for now if Toonami plans to play it, it would have to count as a movie night. It’s a tough call tbh because the TV format in Japan is different compared to the States.

          • I think it’s possible that’s the problem lol. That’s why we are still here. Because they could show it still.

          • ok then like dragon said these few eps of hellsing about an hour will be nice template to see if they like the format.

          • I’m pretty sure people will watch it. I mean if you are the kind of people who watch Breaking Bad or Walking Dead for a hour then there shouldn’t be a problem. Even a bloody series like this I hope it doesn’t get the mid run hate like Black Lagoon did because of the violence. Because Hellsing I think is a lot worse on the blood then Lagoon is and if people have a problem with Lagoon, then I don’t know what to say.

    • Toonami wouldn’t have any problem airing Roberta’s Blood Trail, since they could just dedicate an hour to it like they’re going to with Hellsing Ultimate. They’re probably not airing either because they don’t have the rights to (yet), or they want to test the waters with Hellsing Ultimate to see if airing shows and OVAs with hour-long episodes will work.

      • Time will tell, all I know is Roberta’s Blood Trail had 33min long episodes so maybe with the right editor it could have been formatted for TV. Generally TV episodes are 21-22min long.

        • I don’t see how, just because RBT’s episodes are about 30 minutes long, they’d have to be reformatted. When they announced that Hellsing Ultimate would air, they said that they wouldn’t make any edits for time constraints. Besides, they could just air the full episodes unedited (well, unedited for time, of course) and branch things out with more commercials.

          • Hellsing Ultimate is 50 minutes long per episode which fits into a 60 minute time-slot, RBT’s episodes are 33 minutes long 33+33=66 so either its put into a hour and a half time-slot or its formatted to fit into a 60 minute slot by editing the OVA’s. An example would be editing the show to have an “earlier” ending of about 6-10 minutes.

          • Or, you know, you could air the episodes (one a night, not two a night) unedited for time in an hour timeslot with extra commercials? What’s so hard about that?

          • Lol your right they could, but that would be a TON of commercials… the only way I could see that happening would be if the stuffed it full of Toonami bumper/promos/shorts etc. That’s the only way I could endorse something like that.

  2. THIS IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE. I was fine with OG Naruto being on the block, but a full hour of the dark, bloody monster that is Hellsing Ultimate is a fine follow-up to Black Lagoon.
